Moving Tips Drawers - You may pack clothes or linens in drawers. Remember the piece may have to be turned on its side. Do not leave loose items in drawers. Please empty all office desk drawers and those of larger pieces. Filing cabinets - We have equipment to move vertical filing cabinets full, however please make sure that lateral filing cabinets and storage cabinets are emptied completely. While they are capable of holding weight when stationary, they will be damaged if they are moved with the contents still in them. Hanging clothes - We can provide wardrobe cartons. They have 24 inch hanging bars. Make use of all space - For example; pack linens and clothes in drawers, chests, and trunks. Pack loose items in trash cans. The following items must be packed in boxes or the movers will pack them and charge you accordingly; stereo components, VCR’s, small speakers and subwoofers, computers, mirrors, pictures, glass table tops, fragile lamps, all lamp shades, and all small fragile items. Our movers will loan moving pads if you choose to move something yourself. REMEMBER Student Services Moving and Storage Company movers are personally responsible for the safe delivery of your belongings. Please help them to do their job properly. Do not expect them to take chances. Plants If there is room on the truck we will move large plants. We do not guarantee that they will move safely, as the back of our trucks are subject to extreme temperatures and vibration. Small plants should be set in open boxes. Freezers / Refrigerators / Washers and Dryers These should be emptied, defrosted and/or disconnected prior to the move. We do not disconnect or reconnect icemakers, as well as washers and dryers. You should contact an expert to disconnect and reconnect these items if you are unable to do so yourself. Particle Board Furniture All particle board items should be empty prior to moving. We accept no liability for damage to these pieces unless they are knocked down flat prior to your move. Our movers will not be responsible for disassembly or reassembly of these items. Oversize Pieces Not all extra-large furniture will fit in every apartment or individual room. This is true of extra-long sofas, office desks, one-piece china cabinets, and some bookcases. Please measure all elevators, stairways, door jams, and any corners that must be maneuvered in order to move furniture into your new home. We do not provide hoisting services during unloading. Elevators Please check with the resident manager about reserving the elevator and loading dock. If your shipment is picked up and delivered the same day, the elevator must be available past 5:00 PM until unloading is complete. The schedule for your move may have to be adjusted in order to use the elevator. Gas Grills and Lawnmowers Fuel tanks on these items should be drained. We do not move propane tanks. They can be traded in at many local stores. Firewood We do not move firewood on our trucks. Packing To make your move as efficient as possible, all packing should be done prior to moving day. Please separate all personal belongings you may need overnight and items you will need immediately at your new home. If we do the packing - Our movers will pack everything unless you tell them differently. It is a good idea to sort through cabinets, drawers, shelves, and closets prior to the arrival of the packers. Look for items to give away or throw away, so you don’t pay to have them packed and moved, cluttering your new home. Also, look for valuable or important items that should be separated from the general household goods the packers will be packing. We do not pack or move jewelry, money, keys, flammables, and guns. You should try to separate your important papers or files as well. Mattresses - We do not use mattress boxes unless specifically requested. Since our moves are completed immediately, this additional cost is not needed. Mattresses are always padded on the truck. However, mattress boxes are available upon request and are required for storage. If you are packing yourself, don’t forget, we sell boxes! - We sell boxes at competitive prices. All boxes not packed by Student Services Moving and Storage Company are considered delivered safely if there is no external damage to the container. Please use an excessive amount of paper on your fragile items. Label each box, noting contents and where it is to be placed in your new home. Please tape all boxes closed.
